Evening and Weekend services’ goals are to provide quality services during evenings and weekend hours that are comparable to the services offered during the day. The scheduled evening / weekend hours are Monday through Thursday 5:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., Friday 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Sundays 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m.
The Evening / Weekend service department is responsible for providing services and staffing the library daily during the scheduled evening / weekend hours. The following services are available during evenings and weekend hours – Reference and Research, Circulation of materials - Check in/out, Renewal, Interlibrary loan requests are taken, access to materials within the Stacks, Media Services, use of meeting rooms, Textbooks and Reserves, and Library Instruction by request.
There are five service desk centers within the library which can assist persons in the successful use of the library and its resources. The first service desk is the Reference desk which is located on the first floor and is the first service desk to the right as you enter the building. The second service desk is the Computer Help Desk which is located on the first floor to the left as persons enter the building. The third service desk is the Circulation desk located to the right once persons past the Reference desk. The fourth service desk is the Textbook / Reserve desk located on the first floor down the hallway to the far right. The fifth service desk area is located on the second floor which is the Media desk.
The Evening / Weekend librarian is responsible for providing Reference and Research services, maintaining and submitting statistical reports, maintenance of the patron database, liaison for Human Performance and Sport Science, recruiting, supervision, and training of the evening / weekend staff, collection management, and assistance with security. The Evening / Weekend Librarian ensures consistency of quality services, policy interpretation, training and carrying out of procedures, and interacts with the necessary staff to fulfill any responsibilities necessary. The Evening / Weekend librarian helps to make sure that the environment is conducive for studying and learning.
